Synopsis

Reconnect with the living earth through the timeless rhythms of plant medicine and ancient tradition

In The Herbal Spiral of the Celtic Year, Terri Conroy invites you to return to the ancestral heartbeat of the land by rediscovering the wisdom of the Celtic Wheel. There was a time when humanity lived in a deep, reciprocal relationship with the turning seasons and the shifting cycles of the sun and moon. In the rush of the modern world, that vital pulse has grown faint - but the connection remains, waiting to be rekindled.

This book serves as a grounded, soulful roadmap for living with intention. Moving through each Celtic festival, Terri weaves a rich tapestry of herbal medicine, sacred rituals, seasonal recipes, and reflective practices. It is a guide designed to help align daily life with the natural world, whether you are wandering through ancient woodlands or tending to a single pot on a city windowsill.

Through these pages, you will nurture your own "green craft" by learning to forage, grow, and create potent remedies from both garden herbs and wild plants. The book offers a seasonal approach to herbalism that is deeply rooted in tradition yet entirely accessible to the modern seeker. Along the way, she gently explores women’s cyclical wisdom and the spiritual bond between the body and the land, offering practical guidance for cultivating a sanctuary in any space.

Rich with folklore, history, and deep plant lore, The Herbal Spiral of the Celtic Year is more than a manual: it is an invitation to remember. Warm, accessible, and profoundly rooted, it offers a path to reclaim a life guided by the turning wheel and the quiet, enduring magic of the earth.

About the author

By (author) Terri Conroy

Terri Conroy grew up in an industrial town in the North of England, though she always yearned for the wild, green beauty of her home in Connemara. She returned to Ireland in 1994 to study for a master’s degree in history and folklore at NUIG. Following her studies, Terri spent several years teaching in both secondary and third-level education.

A shift in her career path led Terri to open a health shop, where she developed a deep fascination with herbal medicine. This interest soon moved from the storefront to the soil; what began as a few vegetable beds evolved into a passion for growing and foraging medicinal plants. This journey ultimately led to the creation of her popular YouTube channel, Danu’s Irish Herb Garden.

While Terri has always loved the outdoors, her study of herbal medicine has deepened her appreciation for plant spirits. She holds a firm belief that everything – animals, plants, trees, rocks, and the land itself – is imbued with spirit. Today, she works in co-creation with the land and its spirits, nurturing relationships that are mutually beneficial.

Terri lives in Connemara with her husband, two dogs, two cats, and an ever-varying number of chickens.
